Tea Cooler Recipes to picnic with this Summer

To celebrate our wonderful parks the top people at Keep Britain Tidy (the bods behind Love Parks Week) are encouraging us all to enjoy our favourite parks during Love Parks Week (12 -21 July). We can’t think of anything better than a gathering of friends or family to enjoy a delicious picnic in pleasant surroundings… but you do need something to wash all of that scrummy food down with so the tea blenders at Farrer’s got their heads together to come up with some tip top summer tea cooler recipes. Ideas made with Farrer’s fruit and herbal teas… just the thing to cool you down on balmy summer’s day…

Which is no hardship as we all love being outside, but that’s not so easy in our towns and cities, however, thankfully some 179 years ago an enterprising Victorian addressed the problem in a very practical way…

In 1840 Joseph Strutt, whose family had made a fortune from textiles, donated an 11-acre plot of land and commissioned a leading horticulturalist, John Loudon, to design a haven amid the smog of the industrial town of Derby – Derby Arboretum, which quickly became the template for parks up and down the UK.

That’s not to say there weren’t plenty of green spaces and pleasure gardens dotted about the country but invariably many of them charged – Strutt’s park was free two days a week, Wednesday and Sunday and was brim full of over 1000 different species of trees and shrubs – the perfect thing for amateur botanists to educate themselves… unsurprisingly It was an immediate hit… but then who doesn’t like a freebie?

There are now 27,000 free public parks up and down the country hosting open-air theatre, outdoor fitness sessions; children’s activities, garden parties and even a humble picnic or two…

So, with that in mind why not check out a couple of our favourite summer cooler ideas made using Farrer’s fruit and herbal tea…
Just the thing to help quench your thirst while you tuck into a scrumptious picnic, take in your surroundings and make the most of our amazing parks…
